This album is not a traditional folk recording and not an ordinary, anniversary release either. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of forming the band "Suttyomba" (lit.translation: "underhand") we wanted to create a keepsake, which gives an overview of our works during these past years. Tunes played so many times are presented here – most of them with a little twist. World music, Afro-Latin kawina rhythms blended with traditional Hungarian folk music are included here for your listening pleasure, and our musician friends, who we had the pleasure to work with several times over the years, are also lined up. Listeners may ask several questions: "Why Suttyomba? What are these sketches? Who are these musicians and why are there so many of them? If it is Hungarian folk music, then what are the African drums doing here?" Dear friends, who already know us well, you probably know the answer to these questions. Dear future friends, who do not know us yet, please listen to this album, and your questions will be answered. We hope that everyone will lend an ear to our music. The folk recordings on disc one give a taste of the traditional music from our beloved Hungarian and Transylvanian regions. These tracks include sketches, which originate in an event, funny situation or even a fond memory. Every single sketch has a meaning and a message. The second disc comprises world music recordings of Spoïty Boys (French Guiana) and Suttyomba band, and some folk songs too. The unique sound of these recordings makes this album so special. Some may find some of the songs astounding, for others they may be heartwarming and sensational. Some of our recordings might surprise our listeners and they may think that these musicians are lunatics. Well, there is no doubt: that is what we are like. "Suttyomba band: black and white" but dear listener, there is one thing for sure: everything we wanted to release is here, no holds barred. We have told everything, we have given out everything – and there is nothing "underhand". We did all this with the best intentions and the greatest affection.
